Project Objectives
In completing the project and ultimately delivering value to the client and customer, there are a number of deliverables that must be brought to the client by the project completion date. Among these include:
- Monthly progress reports
- A final report documenting the design work and results of the project
- A working vehicle capable of being licensed as a motorcycle under Illinois state law
- Bound hardcopies and electronic copies of files used for design work
- An operations manual for basic use and maintenance of the vehicle
In creating the deliverables, the necessary needs of the vehicle and several critical customer requirements serve as design targets for the teams to consider. Among them include the customer needs of the vehicle to be safe, inexpensive to own and operate, reliable, and energy efficient with a large enough range for an average urban daily commute. Among the client requirements are that the vehicle also be safe, reliable and durable (an expected life of 7 years), have a low initial cost (a mass produced selling price of about $5000-6000), be able to travel up to 45 miles per hour, and be able to to transport 2 average sized people with 4 grocery bags worth of cargo.
