Project Description |
The scope of this project is to obtain empirical data from physical modeling to investigate the validity of numerical models of infrastructure flooding in the possession of Los Alamos National Laboratory. This will be accomplished by scale modeling of buildings and building arrays, with flow characteristics including velocity, depth, wake reattachment, and hydraulic jump assessed in subcritical (Fr < 1) and supercritical flow (Fr > 1), all quantified by means of instrumentation and visualization. Research excluded from the scope of this project includes computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and (possibly) data resulting from transient flow states. |
